Who am I?
Why am I here?
Why do I feel this way?
What’s missing in my life?
I feel so empty…
Those are all questions we have. They run through our minds and hearts. Everyone has questioned why they're here on this earth and wonder why there is something missing in their hearts. You’ve probably turned to your friends, family, boyfriends, and girlfriends to fill that void, but it gets you nowhere. You still feel that emptiness or that nagging feeling like you’ve forgotten something.
God Desires a Relationship with You
For Christians that void fills up quickly. The Bible tells us that God desires a relationship with us. He wants to know us, and he wants us to love Him. It also tells us that God sent his Son to die for our sins because he loves us so much. It is that love – that desire for a relationship – that Christians fill the void. God is the one that makes you complete.
2Thessalonians 3:5 states, “May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance.” (NIV)
The Bible is pretty clear on how to become a Christian. While there are different denominations of Christianity, the Bible tells us that we will only find salvation through Christ. Yet it is God who begins that relationship. He is the one who makes you feel that emptiness and confusion so you will seek him.
John 6:44 states, “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him.” (NIV)
The Sin in Our Hearts
So you know that God is drawing you to him, but something holds you back. What is it? When we hold back from God it is usually the sin in our hearts. Everyone is a sinner, but God loves us all anyway. That is why He had his Son die on a cross – for our sins.
Romans 3:1-12 states, “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one." (NIV)
John 3:16 states, “For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (KJV)
Understanding God’s Gift
It is in the death of Christ that we really see God’s love for the world, or what is known to Christians as “grace.” The Bible tells us that God gives us the gift of grace for free, and it is His grace that allows us to find salvation.
Ephesians 2:8-9 states, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.” (NIV)
Become a Christian
So, you get all this, right? But what does it take to actually achieve salvation? Well, the process is simple:
Step 1: Believe that God loves you and desires to have a relationship with you.
Step 2: Admit that you are a sinner and put your sin in your past.
Step 3: Believe that Jesus died on a cross for your sins and to give you eternal life.
Step 4: Accept Jesus into your heart.
Step 5: Pray. If you do not know what to say at first, you can use this simple Salvation Prayer .
Step 6: Tell someone.
Romans 10:9-10 states, “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with our heart that you believe and are justified, and it si with your mouth that you confess and are saved.” (NIV)
