Number of Abortions Continue to Decline

Thursday January 17, 2008

The decision in Roe v. Wade caused one of the greatest moral debates of our time - whether a woman should have the right to an abortion. No matter which side of the abortion debate you sit on, it is a positive thing to note that a recent Guttmacher Institute study found that the number of abortions performed in the U.S. have dropped to the lowest point since 1974. The study reports that 1.2 million abortions were performed in 2005, which is a 25 percent decrease from the 1.6 million conducted in 1990 (the all-time high).

The report provided several reasons for the decrease in abortions including better and more effective use of contraception, decreased levels of unintended pregnancies, and the fact that abortions are more difficult to obtain in certain areas of the country. What do think? Share your opinion on the study or on abortion itself in the comments.

While all those may infact be very good reasons for a decrease in abortion, I think we have God to thank for the decrease.

From the grassroots movement of TheCall, comes an organaztion called Bound4Life. Bound4Life holds 24/7 silent prayers for the unborn. If you are going to write a column about abortion you need to include the biggest factor, God.

What good is a Christian website that doesn’t comment on its creator.

That is all.

Blessings.

Praise God. ♥

I hope that our government eventually outlaws abortions. Pregnant teens or not, the unborn should never have to die. While I’m against pregnancy before marriage and pregnant teenagers, I’m MORE against abortion. I’d MUCH rather have a pregnant teen give birth to a baby than abort the baby’s birth birth.

While I love that abortions are declining, I think it’s important to look at those numbers. Still over 1 mil murders are being committed. I think we need to keep the rally for life going. I think we teens need to stand up and show everyone that we won’t stand for a law that allows the murder of helpless babies.

AMEN! i agree! No matter what scientific special names people can come up with for all the insane procedures, abortion is MURDER! The government knows it, the girls know it, but no one wants to believe it. I thank the Lord above that all these innocent lives being taken are happy in heaven with him.
Thank you,
God Bless

I do not belive in abortions and i think that it is kinda sad that people want to take a little childs life away when they could live a great life. Abortion is just a fancy word for MURDER!!
