As a youth leader, you have seen the toll exams can take on teens. It is a time of great stress for them, so you will want to support them as much as possible. Here are six ways you can help decrease the stress of exams on the teens you care about:

1. Prayer Time

Set aside some prayer time in your life to just pray for your students. You can get together with other leaders to pray and pray in your own personal prayers. You may also want to schedule an hour or two with the students to pray for each other prior to exams.

2. Have a Place They Can Go to Study

Discuss with leaders at the church the option of setting up some quiet study rooms. This will allow students a safe place to go to focus completely on studying. If your church does not have room, see if there is space at your local library, community center, or even one of the local schools.

3. Set Up Study Groups

Create study groups for the students in the week or two prior to exams. Set up a week long study session for the ACT or SAT exam. Have some prep books available. You can set up other groups for AP exams or regular tests where the students can provide support to one other.

4. Create Some "Blowing Off Steam" Activities

Even though study time is stressful and teens can get pretty intense, you can offer them a little break from that stress. You can use some silly and stupid games or icebreaker activities to give the students a much needed release.

5. Have an "End of Exams" Celebration

After midterms or finals students need a way to release all that pent up energy. Give them something to look forward to by throwing a little party at the end. It doesn't need to be anything fancy. It could just be sodas and pop with some games thrown in or even a movie. It is also a great way for students to witness to their friends and invite their non-Christian friends to church.

6. Be Available

Teens look up to their youth leaders, and they may really need you during this stressful time. You don't have to have all the answers or be perfect, but you do need to be available. Make sure your students have a way to reach you during this time whether it's via e-mail, phone, or instant messaging. Make some extra effort to be around during exam time. The students will really appreciate it.
