Many Christian teens shy away from voting in elections, and yet there are more reasons to cast a vote than to abstain from having their voices heard. In America the choice to vote is an absolute freedom, and there is power in placing your choice for a candidate on a piece of paper. So, why should Christian teens vote?
1. Raise Your Voice
Many Christian teens feel like their voice is never heard. This is your chance to tell the government loud and clear what you believe!2. It's So Mature
Voting is a very responsible thing to do. You'll impress everyone around you with your maturity and responsibility as you head out to the
polling place.
3. You Get What You Deserve
If you don't think teenagers and students are getting enough funding or attention in the government, then it is probably because young people aren't the ones voting for that representation. Vote to be sure you get what you need.4. Negate the Other Vote
Do you know someone who is voting for the candidate you can't stand? Then vote to negate that vote.5. Someone Gave You the Right
Wars have been fought to give every American the right to vote. Riots ensued. Women were imprisoned while fighting for voting rights. That means that people died so you can have the right to go to the polling place every November. It may be the "There are starving children in the world" answer, but it is nice to honor those that fought so hard for our voting rights.6. Your Future Starts Today
You may be so very far away from retirement, but your choices today will affect you later. Social security (you know, the item you only see taken out of your paychecks) is likely to disappear before you reach 60 years old. Medicare may not be enough to cover your health needs when you become older. Many Christian teens don't want to think about that right now, but when you vote you show you are thinking about your future.7. Money, Money, Money
Okay, so maybe retirement may be a bit far off, so what about the price of gas? How about minimum wage? Government plays a part in how much things cost and how much money is available for things like student loans. Your vote counts in determining those prices.8. Value Sharing
Any Christian teen that follows politics knows that values and morality have been compromised by power. The lack of values in government is a big reason why many people don't vote. However, if you do some research into candidates, you may find that there are some that share your
religious, social, and economic values.
9. Knock Down the Bully
Do you feel like some of the people in your government are more concerned with power than meeting your needs? This is your turn to fight the bully and win. Your vote can be a powerful blow.10. That Fabulous Sticker
When you vote you get to run around all day with a sticker that boasts, "I Voted." There's nothing more fun than a sticker, right?
