A Gathering of Christian College Students:
Looking for a Christian group on your college campus? Why not check out Chi Alpha (XA)? Chi Alpha Campus Ministries is a group of college-age men and women focused on their Christian faith. These students have informal gatherings that include music and fellowship so that they can grow closer to God and meet the needs of the community.
What’s With the Name?:
Chi Alpha is not a fraternity or sorority. Instead it is a fellowship group that gets its name from 2 Corinthians 5:20, “We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us. We implore you on Chris’s behalf, be reconciled to God.” (NIV)
The phrase “christou apostoloi,” meaning “Christ’s sent ones” is represented by the Greek letters chi (X) and alpha (A), and describes the focus of the group.
The Mission:
Chi Alpha’s mission is to transform the “university, the marketplace, and the world.” They wish to create a “Spirit-empowered community.”
Chi Alpha has a 5-fold vision used to introduce fellow students to a relationship with Jesus Christ. Using worship, prayer, fellowship, discipleship, and mission, the organization hopes to fulfill its desire to exhibit “integrity, servant leadership, excellence, community, diversity, and creativity” in their faith.
On Campus Ministry - International Student Friendship Ministry:
International students often face more difficult challenges in transitioning to an American campus. ISFM focuses on helping those students feel welcome by taking them out to eat, showing them around, and helping them get settled
Missions:
Whether you are looking for a long-term or short-term missions trip, Chi Alpha offers both. You can go on missions overseas or even in the U.S. Most of these trips take place during Spring or Summer breaks.
Community Outreach:
Service is a big deal to Chi Alpha. Groups around the country have helped Freshmen move into the dorms, raked leaves for the elderly, helped clean up after Hurricane Katrina, and raised money for local organizations
