Christian Teens' Memory Verse of the Week 48
Week 48

By , About.com Guide

One great way for Christian teens to grow in their faith is to memorize and apply Bible verses to their lives. While Christians should be reading their Bibles every day, memorizing Bible verses is a great way to incorporate what you read into your daily life.

Memory Verse:

Matthew 18:9 - "And if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It’s better to enter eternal life with only one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell." (NLT)

Application for Christian Teens:

While no one today would consider gouging out their eyes if they caused them to sin, there are things we are reluctant to throw away when they cause us to sin. How many of your friends have pressured you doing something you've regretted later? Is there music you know you shouldn't listen to because it causes you to think lustfully? While many people think this verse is an overreaction to sin, it is trying to explain how we need to look at even the small things that cause us to sin. It also explains that it is hard to let go of those things. Yet, our lives would be better without them. Reflect this week on what things in your life cause you to sin and what God wants you to do about them.
