More than Just a Student Ministry

Current President:

Steve Douglass was installed as the president of Campus Crusade for Christ International in July 2001. Douglass had already served 33 years with Campus Crusade for Christ in several capacities, including executive vice president and director of U.S. Ministries.

Mission:

A worldwide Christian evangelism and discipleship organization, Campus Crusade for Christ International seeks to show people how to know and experience God's love and plan for their lives.

Scope:

Campus Crusade for Christ International is:

  • Served by more than 27,000 full-time staff and 225,000 trained volunteers in 190 countries around the world
  • Comprised of some 60 different ministries and projects, including outreaches to students, athletes, military, business leaders, inner-city families, and pastors
  • Creator and distributor of JESUS, the most watched (6+ billion viewership) and translated (890+ languages) film of all time
  • Distributor of Have you Heard of The Four Spiritual Laws?, likely the most widely- distributed religious booklet in history, with more than 2.5 billion printed to date in the world’s major languages

Ministries

Campus Crusade for Christ sponsors a wide range of ministries in 190 countries. The following is a sample of those ministries and their wide variety of work around the world:

  • Athletes in Action: Athletes in Action creates national and international teams for a wide-range of sports, and equips Christian athletes to use athletics as a platform to bring hope to the lives of people around the world. Athletes in Action also has on-going spiritual enrichment programs established with some 20 professional teams across the United States.
  • Campus Ministry: Campus Crusade for Christ’s Campus Ministry is active on more than 1,090 campuses across the United States. Campus Ministry focuses on sharing the message of God’s love with college students and providing students with opportunities to impact the lives of others through Spring Break and summer vacation projects. Since 1996, Campus Ministry has distributed some 1,016,200 Freshman Survival Kits—containing music, books, and other items with a message of hope—to students on campuses across the United States.
  • Christian Embassy: Based in Washington, D.C., Christian Embassy is a non-political, multi-denominational ministry designed to meet the spiritual needs of government leaders and officials. Established in 1975, Christian Embassy now hosts 12 Bible studies on Capitol Hill and serves more than 900 leaders and presidential appointees in the White House, Capitol Hill, the Pentagon, and foreign embassies.
  • Crossroads: CrossRoads works to help at-risk youth around the world decrease the opportunity to contract HIV/AIDS through abstinence-based character development curriculum. Launched in 1995, CrossRoads is active in more than 50 countries, partnering with teachers, counselors, health professionals, NGO’s, and local governments.
  • Family Life: Originally created in 1976 by Campus Crusade to provide pre-marriage seminars for its staff members, FamilyLife is now a national organization designed to provide tools and resources to help strengthen families across America. Through Homebuilders Bible studies, radio broadcasts, I Still Do! marriage conferences, Hope for Orphans adoption program, publications, and other products, FamilyLife has help for every facet of family life.
  • Here's Life Inner City: Here’s Life Inner City, an urban ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ, is dedicated to equipping churches to provide help and hope to the poverty-stricken in their communities. Since 1983, Here’s Life Inner City and more than a thousand partner churches and organizations have been responding to the growing epidemic of poverty and despair in the inner city. The wide-ranging efforts have provided the poor with food and other basic necessities, job training, and youth development programs.
  • The JESUS Film Project: Originally distributed in 1979 by Warner Brothers in theaters nationwide, the two-hour JESUS film remains perhaps the most influential movie in motion picture history—with more than 870 separate language translations and more than 5.8 billion exposures globally. Through The JESUS Film Project, crews work internationally to bring the film to people all over the world in a language they can understand and at a place close to where they live.
  • Josh McDowell Ministries: Josh McDowell Ministries uses publications, speaking engagements, and church resources—with a special emphasis on youth—to teach Christians to defend their beliefs with factual evidence. Since 1964, Josh McDowell has spoken to more than 7 million youth in live forums about topics ranging from evidence of the resurrection to youth cultural issues.
  • Military Ministry: CCCI’s Military Ministry assists chaplains and commanders with caring for the spiritual well-being of troops and their families. Through resources and the help of more than 100 staff, Military Ministry provides bible teaching and leadership training to military men and women and their families in all nations, and helps them stay involved in their faith and their families during times of deployment. Military Ministry currently works in 18 nations in Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe as well as the U.S.
  • Priority Associates: Priority Associates is a network of creative and corporate professionals, dedicated to helping colleagues grow personally, professionally, and spiritually. Active now in over twenty cities across the country, Priority Associates is a resource for young professionals, providing opportunities to explore issues of success, personal leadership, and significance in a variety of venues.
  • Student Venture: Student Venture is the high school and junior high ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ International. Student Venture works hand-in-hand with some 60 other national organizations, and is currently serving in 20 metro locations and over 100 affiliate locations in the U.S. to help teach students about Jesus. Venture Corps, a program of Student Venture, connects college-age students with local programs to help meet the needs of teenagers.
