The Bible

Rejection is something every person deals with at some point in his or her life. It can be painful and harsh, and it can stay with us for a long time. However, it’s a part of life we just need to work through. Sometimes we come out better on the other side of rejection than we would have been if we had gotten it. As scripture reminds us, God will be there for us to ease the sting of rejection.

Rejection is Part of Life

Unfortunately, rejection is something none of us can really avoid; it’s probably going to happen to us at some point. The Bible reminds us that it happens to everyone, including Jesus.

John 15:18
If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. (NIV)

Leaning on God

Rejection hurts. It may be good for us in the long run, but that doesn’t mean we don’t feel its sting when it happens. God is always there for us when we’re hurting, and the Bible reminds us that He is the salve when we feel pain.

Psalm 34:17-20
When his people pray for help, he listens and rescues them from their troubles. The Lord is there to rescue all who are discouraged and have given up hope. The Lord’s people may suffer a lot, but he will always bring them safely through. Not one of their bones will ever be broken. (CEV)

Romans 15:13
I pray that God, who gives hope, will bless you with complete happiness and peace because of your faith. And may the power of the Holy Spirit fill you with hope. (CEV)

Psalm 37:4

Psalm 94:14
For the Lord will not forsake his people; he will not abandon his heritage. (ESV)

1 Peter 2:4

1 Peter 5:7
Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. (NLT)
