Making a mission trip picture frame is a simple craft that can help Christian teens preserve their memories for years to come. The easy decoupage process means that anyone can create this frame, and it's a great gift to give to those who joined you on your trip or for teens who just came back from a mission trip. All you need is a map of the area, a picture, some stickers and glue, and you're ready to create your mission trip picture frame.
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 24-48 hours
Here's How:
- Remove glass from frame.
- Sand wood frame so it is smooth.
- Cut the map so that it will cover the entire frame. You can cut so the map is one solid piece or do it in pieces so that sections overlap like in a collage.
- Crease the map around the frame so it makes it easier for you to trim.
- Trim the edges of your map so that they are a perfect fit to the frame.
- Fill a small dish with water and pour some decoupage glue into another small dish.
- Slightly dip the brush into the water and then dip it into the decoupage glue.
- Paint a thin layer of decoupage glue mixture onto the frame. If you are working with a larger frame, do one section at a time.
- Place the map on top of the mixture.
- Paint a thin layer of the decoupage glue on top of the map. Continue the process until the entire frame has been covered by the map.
- When the frame is completely dry (often 24 hours), seal the surface of the frame with the acrylic sealer spray.
- When the spray is dry, decorate with embellishments.
- Replace the glass and put in your favorite mission trip picture. Voila!
Tips:
- Make sure you give both the glue and the acrylic spray time to dry.
- Be sure to use the acrylic spray in an open area that allows for air movement.
