Bible Verses on Self Confidence

By

The Bible actually has quite a bit to say about self-confidence:

Self Confidence is From God

The Bible reminds us that self-confidence is given to us from God. He provides us with strength and all we need.

Philippians 4:13
I can do all this through him who gives me strength. (NIV)

2 Timothy 1:7 For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. (NIV)

Psalm 139:13-14 You are the one who put me together inside my mother’s body, and I praise you because of the wonderful way you created me. Everything you do is marvelous! Of this I have no doubt. (CEV)

Proverbs 3:6 Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. (NLT)

Proverbs 3:26 for the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught. (ESV)

Psalm 138:8 The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O Lord, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands. (KJV)

Galatians 2:20 I have died, but Christ lives in me. And I now live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave his life for me. (CEV)

1 Corinthians 2:3-5 I came to you in weakness—timid and trembling.  And my message and my preaching were very plain. Rather than using clever and persuasive speeches, I relied only on the power of the Holy Spirit.  I did this so you would trust not in human wisdom but in the power of God. (NLT)

Acts 1:8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth. (NKJV)

Self-Confidence Takes Us on God's Path

When we're looking at where we're going, it is God that gives us the self-confidence we need to walk the path He provides for us.

Hebrews 10:35-36 Therefore, do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward.  For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised. (NASB)

Philippians 1:6 And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. (NLT)

Matthew 6:34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. (NIV)

Hebrews 4:16 So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most. (NLT)

James 1:12 God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. (NLT)

Romans 8:30 And these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified. (NASB)

Being Self-Confident in Faith

As we grow in our faith, we grow in self-confidence. He is always there for us. He is our strength, our shield, our helper. Growing closer to God means growing more confident in our beliefs.

Hebrews 13:6 So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” (NIV)

Psalm 27:3 Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident. (NIV)

Joshua 1:9 This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. (NLT)

1 John 4:18 Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love. (NLT)

Philippians 4:4-7 Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (NKJV)

2 Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. (NIV)

2 Timothy 2:1 Timothy, my child, Christ Jesus is kind, and you must let him make you strong. (CEV)

2 Timothy 1:12 That’s why I am suffering now. But I am not ashamed! I know the one I have faith in, and I am sure that he can guard until the last day what he has trusted me with. (CEV)

Isaiah 40:31 But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. (NIV)

Isaiah 41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (NIV)
