Reading through Bible verses on the topic of redemption helps us understand the true sacrifice Jesus made on the cross. Redemption provides us with freedom from all kinds of ills, and God offers it to us freely. He paid a huge price for our redemption, and the following Scripture gives us some insight into how meaningful that price is.

Why We Need Redemption

We all are recipients of redemption and for good reason: We are all sinners that require redemption from our sins.

Titus 2:14
He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds. (NLT)

Acts 3:19
Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away. (NLT)

Romans 3:22-24
There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. (NIV)

Romans 5:8
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (NIV)

Romans 5:18
Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people, so also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people. (NIV)

Redemption Through Christ

God knew the one way for us to be redeemed was to pay a huge price. Instead of wiping us all off the face of the earth, He chose instead to sacrifice His Son upon a cross. Jesus paid the ultimate price for our sins, and we are the recipients of freedom through Him.

Ephesians 1:7
Christ sacrificed his life’s blood to set us free, which means that our sins are now forgiven. Christ did this because God was so kind to us. God has great wisdom and understanding (CEV)

Ephesians 5:2
Let love be your guide. Christ loved us and offered his life for us as a sacrifice that pleases God. (CEV)

Psalm 111:9
He sent redemption to his people; he has commanded his covenant forever. Holy and awesome is his name! (ESV)

Galatians 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (ESV)

1 John 3:16
By this, we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. (ESV)

1 Corinthians 1:30
God has united you with Christ Jesus. For our benefit God made him to be wisdom itself. Christ made us right with God; he made us pure and holy, and he freed us from sin. (NLT)

1 Corinthians 6:20
For God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body. (NLT)

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that He gave His [a]only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. (NASB)

2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. (NASB)

Mark 10:45
The Son of Man did not come to be a slave master, but a slave who will give his life to rescue many people. (CEV)

Galatians 1:4
Christ obeyed God our Father and gave himself as a sacrifice for our sins to rescue us from this evil world. (CEV)

How to Ask for Redemption

God didn't sacrifice His Son on a cross so that redemption would only be given to a chosen few. If you want freedom in the Lord, just ask. It is there for every one of us.

Romans 10:9-10
That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation. (NKJV)

Psalm 130:7
O Israel, hope in the Lord; For with the Lord there is mercy, And with Him is abundant redemption. (NKJV)

1 John 3:3
All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure. (NIV)

Colossians 2:6
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him. (NIV)

Psalm 107:1
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. (NIV)
