Bible Verses on Fate

By

Fate and destiny are words we use so often we don't even realize their true meaning. There are a lot of Bible verses that talk about fate, but more in God's design. Here are some bible verses on fate and how God actually works in our lives:

God Designed You

Ephesians 2:10
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (NIV)

Jeremiah 1:5
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations. (NIV)

Romans 8:29
For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. (NKJV)

God Has Plans for You

Jeremiah 29:11
I will bless you with a future filled with hope—a future of success, not of suffering. (CEV)

Ephesians 1:11
God always does what he plans, and that’s why he appointed Christ to choose us. (CEV)

Ecclesiastes 6:10
Everything has already been decided. It was known long ago what each person would be. So there’s no use arguing with God about your destiny. (NLT)

2 Peter 3:7
And by the same word, the present heavens and earth have been stored up for fire. They are being kept for the day of judgment, when ungodly people will be destroyed. (NLT)

1 Corinthians 15:22
For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. (NIV)

1 Corinthians 4:5
Therefore do not go on passing judgment before the time, but wait until the Lord comes who will both bring to light the things hidden in the darkness and disclose the motives of men’s hearts; and then each man’s praise will come to him from God. (NASB)

John 16:33
These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world. (NASB)

Isaiah 55:11
So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it. (ESV)

Romans 8:28
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. (ESV)

God Doesn't Tell Us Everything

Mark 13:32-33
But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.  Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come. (NIV)

John 21:19-22
Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God.Then he said to him, “Follow me!” Peter turned and saw that the disciple whom Jesus loved was following them. (This was the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper and had said, “Lord, who is going to betray you?”) When Peter saw him, he asked, “Lord, what about him?” Jesus answered, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me.” (NIV)

1 John 3:2
Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is. (NLT)

2 Peter 3:10
But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment. (NLT)

Don't Use Fate as an Excuse

1 John 4:1
Dear friends, don’t believe everyone who claims to have the Spirit of God. Test them all to find out if they really do come from God. Many false prophets have already gone out into the world. (CEV)

Luke 21:34-36
Don’t spend all of your time thinking about eating or drinking or worrying about life. If you do, the final day will suddenly catch you 35 like a trap. That day will surprise everyone on earth.36 Watch out and keep praying that you can escape all that is going to happen and that the Son of Man will be pleased with you. (CEV)

1 Timothy 2:4
God wants everyone to be saved and to know the whole truth (CEV)

John 8:32
And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. (NLT)
