Proverbs 15:15 - "For the despondent, every day brings trouble; for the happy heart, life is a continual feast."" (NLT)
Sure, we all have times when we feel like all is lost. I don't really know anyone that hasn't faced some sort of heartbreak or trouble in their lives. Yet, sometimes we need to learn when to work through our sadness and appreciate the things we do have in our lives. This verse is not saying you cannot be sad about what is going on in your life. What it is saying is to not be sad for things you don't have and learn to appreciate the things you do have.
Finding joy isn't about having the next big thing, a boyfriend, the right clothes, etc. Finding joy in the Lord matters more. Have you ever seen a poor person who is just overly joyful in his or her life? Often those people have learned to find contentment in what matters. Think this week on what means the most to you in your life and what God thinks should matter most. You might find yourself in a feast of joy you didn't know existed.

i respect your views on the lord .
But i hav to say do not preach about that we should be happy. i have had an eating disorder for 8 years and you have no idea the struggle it is . you think we can just snap out of it yu dont you are reminded of it day and night. personally i dont care what the lord thinks im unhappy with myself and i chose to do that so dont preach as you have no idea how bloody hard it is .
The verse is not saying that we need to be happy all the time, despite any bad things that are in our lives. It’s saying that we should not wallow in self-pity over stupid things, like not having that new pair of shoes or a video game. KC, God understands your struggles. He really does. He doesn’t want you to suffer. I can’t imagine the pain you must be going through with your eating disorder, but I do know that God helps. Pray. Even if it’s just for a minute a day, ask God to help you overcome your problems. It won’t be easy or quick, but He will help you.
KC, I know what you are talking about, I had a eating disorder and it is the hardest thing ever to over come and you cant do it yourself, you should trust that God will help you in this struggle but first YOU must want to change you have to do it for the right reasons.I had to make this decision 2 years ago—I actually felt my life dying in front of me,my chest hurt me so bad when I would walk, finally I realized it was time for a change so I began to pray for God to teach me of what I was going to do to help myself so I could help others. It was 2 years Oct.that I walked out of the doctors office and told my husband that I had to make a change in my life (eating) or I was going to die at a young age.I didnt want to leave my family. I prayed that the Lord’s will be done in my life and that he would teach me of how I was to move on in my life. I have lost 110 pounds by faith in a awesome God. But remember YOU must have the faith and You must want the change for you…… I will be praying for you to walk in the path that God has for you and he will teach you as you are willing to do the walk…Love and prayers Sheri
