What Did You Eat for Dinner?
That's a strange question for a site that caters to Christian teens, right? Not really. Some of you may not have eaten dinner...or breakfast...or lunch, and you may have done it on purpose. Anorexia and bulimia are more common that you might think, and teens have a huge focus on body image. The problem is, when that body image becomes distorted, that's when an eating disorder begins to form.
It's okay for teens to be concerned with their appearance. God tells us that we should take care of our bodies, but starving yourself or bingeing and purging is not the way to get beauty. The models on the magazine covers, guys on television, and other entertainment regulars are not average, and many of them are airbrushed, lighted, made-up, had surgeries, or even taking extreme measures to achieve that thin body. God wants us to be healthy, and He wants us to find the beauty within.
If you are concerned that someone you know has an eating disorder, or you have an eating disorder, it may be time to seek out some help. There are eating disorder programs all over the country, and some of them even have a Christian-based program. Talk to an adult. Find out what may be the best way to talk about the eating disorder, and help yourself or your friend get on a healthy road to recovery.
Remember 1 Samuel 16:7, "The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." (NIV)

Leviticus 11:10-12 – 10. And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you:
11. They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination.
12. Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you.
These divine orders are repeated in Deuteronomy 14:9-10 .
