Prayers for the Flooded Midwest

Monday June 16, 2008

To many people living in Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, and more, it may seem like they are reliving the time of Noah with all the rains and flooding. They are facing rising flood waters and rain that just never seems to end. The Mississippi continues to rise. Parts of Cedar Rapids has been evacuated. The University of Iowa has educational buildings under water. The Fox River in Illinois continues to threaten homes. Thousands of people are without places to live. Others have returned home to find their belongings have been reduced to a muddy sludge.

While many of you may not be able to help with sandbagging efforts or financial donations, you still have the power of prayer to offer. Give what you can to the efforts to help those affected by the flooding, but remember to spend time in prayer this week for those who have lost so much. Ask God to provide for them in their time of need and to offer them comfort and restoration.

Thank you Kelli for blogging for prayers because of the flooding in the Midwest. My husband and I live in Iowa alongside the Mississippi in Burlington, IA. We are getting record waters rising. My husband and I are high and dry living on top of a hill. But our downtown is getting wetter minute by minute. I have family living in Iowa City and Cedar Rapids that have been experiencing the affects of the flooding. What a mess.

As First Nation person adult I have struggled with faith as immigrant foreparents misused teaching of christ to commit crimes against humanity to steal our homelands.God blessed First Nations to be here we knew love of the Creator and holy spirit.I know message of Christ taught salvation and forgiveness for all.Sad it was flaw of the messenger not the message.Christ cries for what had happened would inspire Hitler do same in own homeland.Sad so sad.Do not use Christ reason to destroy people only God can.
In Christ you all take care.

Its so funny how we all get so caught up in life that we even forget to pray at times. We are so fortunate to have a roof over our heads and food to eat, many people are not so fortunate not knowing where they are going to sleep or eat for that night. Ms. Kelli I thank you for your blogs and week to week scripture, for christian teens. I appreciate it Thank you make God continue to guide and keep you. I pray that God will restore, strengthen and keep the people of the Midwest he sees and knows they’re every care. I pray that he will help us to keep our eyes on him at all times and not get caught up with the wiles of this earth, because one day we will all leave this earth. Oh Lord, touch and renew their hearts to continue to worship you in time of distress because you are truly an awesome God and indeed you are a way maker. Thank You for your precious blessing in Jesus name I pray Amen.

I never heard about the floodings in the Midwest. =/ I heard about the tragedy in Myanmar, however. Anyone else here get the email about that, too? Gruesome stuff. =( God bless them all—everyone.
