Prom Night: Glamour, Dancing, and Fun

Saturday April 5, 2008

Over the next month or so, many Christian teens will be shopping for dresses and tuxes to wear to their Junior and Senior proms. Prom can be one of the best nights of your teenage life if you do it right. There is so much pressure today to make the night perfect, but really Prom just needs to be about having fun.

There's so much talk about being safe at Prom, and it is for good reason. There's nothing worse than your Prom being ruined by drinking or drugs. There's also a lot of pressure to fall into temptations like sex on Prom night. Sometimes all the "safety" and "temptation" talk takes the fun out of the night. Instead, take the advice to heart so that you know your night will be about the dance rather than the pressure.

Also, some teens stress about buying their dresses or tuxes, and some Christian teens don't bother going to prom, because they just can't afford a dress or a tux. You can help those teens get to prom by having a dress exchange. You may even want to trade dresses with your own friends to save money.

Prom itself does not need to be a high-pressure time. You just need to focus on having good fun with great friends that share your values.

I honestly can not believe you would just say that prom is OK without even quoting a Scripture to young Christian teens trying to live for God.

You may want to adjust your articles to “seek first the kingdom of God…” before you basically advocate something as worldly as the prom.

It’s prom night. Seriously it’s a once in a lifetime event. I attended, had fun, and did not fall into any of the temptations such as sex, drinking, drugs, etc. If prom night was on a Sunday, I’d find that understandable since it is the day of worship, but it lands on Saturday for most people. I might be wrong, or whatever, and feel free to argue back, and one more thing. If the author didn’t post a quote from the Scriptures, find one yourself and post it?

Yeah, I’m against proms, too. Not to be a party pooper, but they’re totally uncalled for. Many teens get killed during the event of the prom. It’s sad. Maybe some deaths could be prevented if proms ceased to exist.

Just speculating.
